Diamond is three billion years in age, a strategic and high tech super material for our technological society that is formed in the earth's interior and shot to the surface by extraordinary volcanoes. It is carbon in its most concentrated form, composed by solely of carbon-the chemical element fundamental to all life, thus it is a native elements.
For time immemorial, the diamond has been the ultimate symbol of romance and love, and the ring, a symbol of fidelity, constancy and commitment. The ancient Romans believed that the fourth finger of the left hand was a direct conduit to the heart itself. But purchasing an engagement ring is part of a much larger decision that goes beyond legend and tradition.
The first engagement ring is believed to have been offered in the fifteen century by the Archduke Maximillan of Austria. He presented a solitaire diamond ring when he asked for the hand of Marie de Bourgogne in marriage.
Choosing the perfect diamond can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. But to make the process easier, we can use the "4Cs" of a diamond (Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight) as a guidance to choose a diamond. Finding the perfect stone for someone means understanding that each diamond is as unique as every person. Remember that choosing diamonds is not an exact science. There is no exact ways to choose a perfect diamond for someone. Some people prefer a larger diamonds (higher carat weight) and may be less concerned about clarity and color. Other people may prefer maximum brilliance and fire, so concentrating on diamonds with only the finest proportions are what is most important, rather than size and color.
Whatever your choice in diamonds, do not believe that the larger the carat weight, the more valuable the diamond. The value of a diamond is depended on the color, clarity, cut as well as the carat weight. All diamonds must demonstrate Fire, Life and Briiliance. The Fire is the magnificent rainbow effect from the refraction of the light. The Life is the flash and sparkle produced by the movement of the diamond. The Brilliance is the reflection of white light when the diamond is at rest.
